The birth of a child is a sacred and transformative moment for the entire family. According to Vedic astrology, the exact time, date, place, Nakshatra, Tithi, and Lagna at birth can reveal certain planetary and Nakshatra influences that may require traditional Shanti rituals.
Gandamoola Shanti is performed when a child is born under certain Gandamoola Nakshatras or other combinations traditionally considered sensitive. These influences are believed to affect not only the child but, in certain traditions, the parents, grandparents, and other close family members.
The purpose of Gandamoola Shanti is not to create fear, but to remove or pacify unfavorable influences and invoke divine blessings for the child’s health, happiness, confidence, prosperity, and spiritual well-being.
Depending on the child’s birth details and horoscope, additional Shanti ceremonies may be recommended.
Kartik Shanti is traditionally considered in connection with certain births during the Kartik month to strengthen Sun in horoscope the planet responsible for confidence peace happiness and spirituality.

Every child’s horoscope is unique. Therefore, Shanti should be determined after carefully examining the Janma Kundali, rather than performing the same ritual for every child.
The child’s Janma Kundali (birth horoscope) is the foundation for understanding the planetary and Nakshatra influences present at the moment of birth. Preparing it soon after birth allows important combinations and traditional Doshas to be identified at the earliest opportunity.
In some cases before doing the puja and Havan, planetary mantras needs to be chanted few thousand times, sun 6000, moon 10000 mars 7000, mercury 17000, Jupiter 16000, Venus 20000, Saturn 19000, Rahu 18000, Ketu 7000.
